how do i remove polish from my shoes?

i think you can use an acetone based spirit (e.g. nail varnish remover) or isopropyl alcohol. is that correct? if so where can i get isopropyl alchohol in the UK.

Mineral spirits will be the best but, an ammonia solution comes in a distant second

    White spirit works well.
