Kangaroo Slaughter For Fur

URGENT REQUEST - PETITION TO STOP SLAUGHTER - The government of the ACT are in the process of culling hundreds of kangaroos on the military sight. We need as MANY SIGNATURES as possible to stop this brutal slaughter.

Millions of kangaroos are shot for their skins every year in Australia, and orphaned babies and wounded adults are decapitated or hit sharply on the head to destroy their brains. When hunters kill a mother kangaroo with a baby in her pouch, the baby is often yanked from the mother’s lifeless body and stomped to death or left to writhe in agony. Allowing kangaroo skins to be sold in California would threaten the species’ existence; kangaroo populations have been dwindling and are now the lowest they have been in more than a decade. An increased demand for kangaroo skin will further jeopardize Australia’s dwindling kangaroo populations.
Kangaroos need your voice. Just like dogs, cats, and other animals, kangaroos feel pain and suffer and deserve to be protected from needless suffering and death. The California Senate Natural Resources and Wildlife Committee passed the bill on May 8, allowing it to move forward to voting by the full senate. SB 880 will be voted on by June 8, so kangaroos urgently need your voice.
Please, help stop SB 880 and protect kangaroos by writing to the California Chamber of Commerce, letting it know you oppose SB 880 and will leave California out of your future travel plans if this bill is passed. Remind them that kangaroos are not throw rugs, purses, jackets, or shoes.

another point is that these animals are not shot for fur.the meat is processed and exported overseas and eaten here,a kangaroo must be shot in a particular position of the head or it cant be sold(humane dont you think),and just because i love it (ate it tonight for dinner)i thought id let you know production went up 400% and the company loves it.your all failing for good reason.

yep. I agree with you there. Beef apperently damages the land by degrading it. As kangaroos are native they don’t effect the landscape. And the meat is also 95% or something like that fat free lowering obesity levels. And it doesn’t taste any different

the kangaroo population has not been dwindling over the past 50 years, in fact there are more kangaroos now then ever before. there are over 60 million roos and barely over 20 million people. abo’s were killing roos before the setllers came along. the roos are in plauge proportions because they are designed to survive and flurish in the changing climates australia has.

They are certainly not in isolated pockets, if you don’t know that then your probably not Australian, if your not Australian don’t bother to comment cos im not interested to be frank. i havn’t seen a roo build a shelter yet, if thats what you’ve been told in documentaries then i suggest you watch something else
