It is never too late to start ballet - regardless of age. It is uncommon for those to make a professional career out of it after starting so late, but not unheard of. You should pick things up quickly if you have been used to dancing other styles, and you will eventually find your dancing in general starting to improve as you gain technique and strength. As for going en pointe, it depends on your current ankle strength and over all stamina. If you want to develop more strength, therabands work wonders. There are many contributing factors that will determine when you go en pointe, but it could range anywhere from 6 - 36 months, depending on your teachers decision.

Well, unless you do ballet really seriously for a while you may not be able to do it professionally, but it’s definately worth starting it. As for going en pointe, it depends on your teacher. Some are very strict and some will let you as of a certain age, regardless of your previous ballet experience.
Anyway your other dancing that you have done will help your ankles to make them stronger for pointe

I’ve done ballet since I was about 3-4.
But, I quit a few years ago.
I really would like to get back into it again.
But, since your 16, you might want to do ballet for a couple years.
To be on pointe, you have to take ballet lessons for several years.
I’m talking about 6-7 years for ballet because you have to strengthen your ankles.
Your ankles have to be strong enough to hold up your entire body when your on pointe.
If you take ballet for 2-3 years, your ankles will be some-what strong, but not strong enough for pointe.
You can start at any age in your life, but I would prefer starting young, about 5, so that you can take ballet growing up and when your about 17-18 you can begin pointe.
But, 16 is a good age to start ballet.

No It’s not. Even though youre 16 you still can do it. I’ve done ballet since I was 6. And I remember that a girl started to dance for the 1st time at 15! As for pointe that all depends your teacher. But since you have taken dance classess before so your prob. Strong in your ankles. So you might go on pointe with in your first year!
